Which Multifunction Printer Brand Is Of Better Quality? HP or Brother?

Question by J’ESSAYE ENCORE: Which Multifunction Printer Brand Is Of Better Quality? HP or Brother?
.. Alright so I am buying a late Christmas gift for some friends of mine, who have just come back from London. They have no printer, but have expressed how much they need one. They would like an all-in-one/multifunction printer WITH A FAX. I cannot decide whether to buy HP’s brand of all-in-one printers, or Brother.

.. I currently have an HP and have only gone through 2 over 6 years, have been pretty decent quality, but have had some problems. I would probably purchase an HP, but there are no “latest” models that have all four features (Fax, Printer, Scanner, Copier). All the HP models that have those 4 features are older, and outdated. If I had to settle for 3 for them (W/O a fax), then I will, but I was really hoping to get them the works..

.. I have never used a Brother printer, but I have been reading very great reviews. There are numerous models that have all the 4 features I was looking for, but I do not know how fast they print, or even more importantly the print quality (Even if a little slow, they can deal for high quality/resolution). My limit for a printer is around $ 300.00, and the Brother printers I have been looking at are; MFC-6490CW, MFC-990CW, MFC-885CW, MFC-5890CN, MFC-790CW, MFC-685CW, MFC-490CW, or one of the sorts. I would probably go with the MFC-6490CW..

.. So any recommendations on which brand produces a better multifunction printer would be greatly appreciated..

i’m not sure this is the answer you’re looking for, but HP ink cartridges are much cheaper and easier to find. brother printers work pretty well (i know from experience), but i’m sure you know that inkjets run out of ink all the time. go with an HP.

I’m not sure how you define better. They are both good printers. My definition of better is a better warranty and cheaper ink. In my opinion, the best deal in a photo printer is the Epson Artisan 800 direct from epson.com for $ 130 after $ 170 instant rebate. It’s a wireless copier/scanner/fax/photo printer with 6 individual ink cartridges for high photo quality. The best warranty in the industry. For two years, Epson will fedex a replacement and pick up the old one should you need it.
If that’s beyond your budget, the next best deal is the NX415 at Officemax for $ 50. It’s a copier/scanner/printer with 4 ink cartridges. It’s not wireless and the warranty is one year. If you sign up for Maxperks, you get back a $ 20 visa card so it’s like paying $ 30 for the printer.

You cannot without a massive mess and waste of ink

Almost all pharmacies will sell syringes, the usually cost about a buck.
Just go buy a needle and syringe.

I have a Macbook pro that I use to print photos with my HP Photosmart Premium Printer. It is a C310 series that I can print wirelessly with. I have tried to brighten up the photos using iPhoto, but then it just looks fake and the quality goes down. What should I do?? I went to Office Max and they told me that it must mean that my ink is low, so I replaced the ink cartridges and still no change?

I would recommend a color management software or perhaps just researching a bit about color management. A great article to get you started: http://www.inkfarm.com/Color-Management-Basics It will give you all the basics you need to get your photo close to the same as the image on your monitor.
